Excellent article brother. In my younger days I didn't understand why the Luddites reacted the way they did to technological progress, now I most certainly understand. Thanks to all this glorious tech humans have allowed their physical muscle to atrophy and now we are allowing our mental acuity to atrophy much in the same way. Losing both means humanity will have lobotomized themselves and I'm not sure humanity will be able to recover if that happens. I recently reread the Dark Tower series that Stephen King wrote and a lot of the series is about how older generations let their love of technology lead them to the abyss, which they then fell into thus wiping out their civilization. I believe that works of fiction act as prophecies, such as Atlas Shrugged(plot of which is being acted out as I type this across the globe), without the authors being aware of their role as prophets for future generations. Let's hope that I am wrong about the prophecy of the Dark Tower.
Cheers...it seems at each step of the human journey there are decision-points where we have to decide how we balance the human condition with our external tools - only that now this decision has been hijacked by the 'few' who are making those decision on our behalf - and in this, works have been very prophetic, including those of P.K. Dick, amongst others ... Yes, there is the real danger that consciousness becomes automated and 'materialized' rather than spiritualized ...
P.K. Dick was certainly a prophet of his times and it is truly amazing the sheer number of things he wrote about that came to fruition. The Man in the High Castle is one of my favorite books and, if I remember correctly, it was the first of his novels that touched upon the notion of the multiverse(know that the Valis trilogy goes into much greater detail on this). He also had transcendental experiences that showed him the true nature of reality which resulted in the publication of his Exegis compilation.
Indeed, PK Dick created an incredible Gnostic cosmology based upon his own profound experiences... I touched upon this when I made a video of Dick's 'VALIS moment' in my 'Ghost in the Machine' video series. Here's the link if you are interested: https://youtu.be/jL53BqKK_8Q?si=LMySaA1kUsmx77A1
